A redesigner offers services primarily one day home makeovers.
As a redesigner you go in for the entire day and rearrange furniture, group and hang art, showcase the owner's collections and treasures. Redesign is very personal and reflects a homeowner's lifestyle.
Home Stagers on the other hand offer many more services than redesigners. Home stagers are helping the client prepare her/his property for selling so that it will sell sooner and for more money than a property that is not staged. As a home stager you can offer a consultation, report recommendations, shopping services, sourcing services for rental furnishings, installation, hands-on staging, and professional organizing and then you can also do the move-in! |

Den: Before/After |
The changes I made were again trying to use the same color scheme as the rest of the main floor, so I made chocolate brown curtains to match the valances in the adjoining kitchen. I removed some personal effects and added some candles on each side of the fireplace making it look more balanced. I pulled the misplaced area rug away from the door and put it between the couches. I shifted the couches over and added some curtains with nice iron rods and finials.
Using the leftover material from hemming the curtains I made a cover for the unsightly plastic valance.
Opening the blinds gave much better light and appearance of space. The room feels open airy and much more pleasant. |

Sitting Room: Before/After |
This living room is open to the dining room. I have arranged the furnishings in a conversational setting so after a meal with friend or family you can gather in the living room. The furnishings are simple and uncluttered allowing for traffic to move around the room easily. There is a large picture window for plenty of natural light as well as table and floor lamps for accent lighting. |
Living: Before/After |
I chose the fireplace and windows as the focal points to staging this room because they are the areas that are first seen upon entering. They have about the same structural balance and It is nice having something other than just the T.V as the focal point.
The windows span across the entire room and shed plenty of natural light needed on the shaded side of the house. I put the furniture in a symmetrical arrangement with the slip covered sofa as the center point facing the fireplace / T.V and still having a view out the windows. The client was unhappy with the previous color of the room so we painted it accenting the fireplace to help create a focal point. I purchased some floral sheers to tie in with the new slip cover and add emphasis to the windows. The piano fit perfectly against the wall behind the sofa. The warm neutral color scheme flows with the decor of the rest of the house now. |
